Largest of all divers.Shows much thicker neck and paler bill in all plumages than Great Northern Diver.In Winter appears a more 'dirty brown' in overall colour than that species.Holds head generally in a position tilting upwards.. Unlikely to be seen in UK in summer plumage as it is a rare winter visitor to Britain.
